Passion and Danger make tempting bedfellows…
He sees her, wants her, needs her…
Chicago Detective Ryan Daire has many secrets: a love for Shakespeare, an appreciation for the all the finer things in life, and an absolute lack of restraint in the bedroom. Now he has an even bigger secret. In every shifting shadow of the sprawling mansion he’s recently inherited he can see herβtempting, ethereal, and untouchable. Hope Stillwater inhabited that mansion in 1906. Raw desire has formed a conduit between these two passionate souls who are separated by the barrier of time.
Now he has to have her.
Intoxicated by each other’s presence, Ryan and Hope are closer than ever to crossing that inviting boundary between two worlds. But there is one grave danger: Ryan’s job has put him on the trail of a depraved criminal in an investigation that’s risking Hope’s eternal fate and happiness. Now he must do whatever it takes to change history, protect Hope from harm, and set his own desires free.
An intense and erotic journey though time.

In the middle of 2 right now, but the last completed was Hancock, funny, but there was something lacking. The first part was good, but there could have been more in the second part I guess. I jsut can’t put my finger on what was missing

Hi Beth!
I just saw The Proposal with Sandra Bullock, and while it was formulaic and you knew what would eventually happen….it was a great way to spend a couple of hours.
I love romantic comedy’s, I think they are my fav type of movie. I don’t care if I already know what the outcome will be, it’s all the stuff that happens while they fall in love that draws me in.
Critics gave the movie a C-, but I would give it a B+. I had a great time, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a light and funny romantic comedy.
Please don’t enter me for this drawing..I am already a lucky owner of Daring Time, and Warrior π

A few weeks ago, we watched “Marley & Me”. All I have to say is if you love dogs, you had better have a box of kleenex beside you at all times. You’ll need it. I give it a 5 out of 5. The only thing is I will probably never watch it again. It was too emotionally for me. Have a great day.

I just saw Up and I totally adored it. It was a really good movie, so I’d give it a 4.5/5.

Hi Beth;
I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend. π
I don’t go to many movies, but the last one I saw (Like I said – so out of it lol) was “Twilight”.
I didn’t feel it lived up to the hype but that was just me. I know everyone has probably seen that one. Rating – 3/5 lol

Hey Beth,
I recently rented two movies that were awesome!! New In Town starring Renee Zelwieger–4.5 stars and North and South starring Richard Armitage–5++stars!
For Father’s Day my husband chose to see a movie he thought my son would enjoy (as well as himself), we went and saw Land of the Lost starring Will Ferrel. I am not a fan of Will Ferrel, so I think I would rate this one too harshly, but I can say my husband got a good nap and had a chuckle or two. Me on the other hand ate out of boredom. Hello Gym, here I come!
Have a wonderful day!!

Oooooooooohhhh……Taken. LOVED it!!
I thought the commercials were great, so was a little afraid it wouldn’t be as good as it looked, but it rocked!! It flew from start to finish, and the action was superb.
The only thing that would have made it better was a little romance!!

I just rented and watched Fireproof, with Kirk Cameron, and I really enjoyed it. It is about a fireman whose marriage with his wife is on the rocks. They decide to divorce and the wife is carrying on a flirtation with the doc at a hospital where she works. Kirk is ready to throw in the towel when his dad gives him a book called The Love Dare. The book has a series of tasks to fulfill over 40 days to remember the love and why a couple falls in love in the first place. Kirk does all of the tasks, even when he is getting rejected by his wife he perserveres.
It is a wonderful testament to marriage. It’s rare that a movie explores love past the initial butterflies and excitement, but this delivers.
It did feel more like a TV movie than a movie theatre film, but hey, I like TV movies. I wish Tori Spelling would do more TV movies like Co-ed Call Girl. π
Fireproof does have religious overtones and is very PG. So no shirtless Kirk. π

Well I honestly haven’t been to the movies in awhile. But we rented MILK with Sean Penn and I thought it was an excellent movie. I didn’t realy want to see it but now I’m glad I did. It’s an incredible movie about perseverance, strength and determination. Sean Penn certainly deserved an Oscar for his performance of a gay man.
Have a great day.

We tend to delve into old BBC shows and series from Netflix…the last was a 3 disc miniseries called the Aristocrats. We gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Love the period pieces!

I watched Arc and I thought it was a pretty good movie. I’d give it a 4 out of 5. It’s got good eye-candy which may have swayed my opinion because my husband said it was just OK. But I got to stare at Peter Facinelli so I was happy:)

At the movies it was “He’s Not That Into you”. Loved it. Give it a 4. At home – “You’ve Got Mail” for the hundredth time so it must be a 5. Maybe because it’s about bookstores LOL!!

I watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 with my niece the other night. It was really good. She had actually recorded it on the dvr and it didn’t get the ending so we had to watch the ending yesterday. I have not read the books, but I need to. The movies were awesome!

Hm, well the one I saw most recently in theaters was Wolverine- and honestly I think the “Wolverine in 30 seconds” video on youtube sums it up pretty nicely. Though I did enjoy all the eye candy and have a special fondness for Xmen.
Otherwise, I saw some/most of Equilibrium on tv last night – love Christian Bale, and gun katas. (Though it was more impressive the first time I saw it.) And, I’ve been inundating myself on Sense and Sensibility- both Ang Lee’s version, and the BBC’s. Both are quite good. (I’m not much of a movie reviewer, huh :P)

I recently got to see “The Dark Knight”. I’d give this movie 4 stars. Lots of incredible action shots, some great acting and hey..it’s Batman. Who doesn’t like Batman right? Plus it was filmed in my home town so I love that idea. The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was the how it ended. The ending to all the characters in the movie left me a bit empty. Even Batman. Saying more would spoil it for those who havent seen the film.

Hi Beth! I saw Angels and Demons few days ago. It good and I liked it better then The Da Vinci Code. Tom Hanks is a great actor, but the end was a little predictable. All in all I recommend watching it π

Hi Beth!
I took my girls to the Drive-In last weekend to see Hannah Montana & Race To Witch Mountain. Hannah Montana would be enjoyable if you are a 6-8 year old girl I guess, I did a crossword puzzle while it was on, LOL. RTWM was not bad, not as good as the original Witch Mountain Disney movies though. The special effects were pretty cool, and it did star “The Rock”- I mean Dwayne Johnson π Anyway, he is yummy no matter what you call him!

There are some great recommendations here, thanks! My evil plan to get good movie ideas worked. *Beth rubbing hands together* I’ll really have to check out a lot of these, like Up, New in Town and The Hangover, for starters.
LadyVamp, are you from Chicago? π
Limecello–I’m a huge Sense and Sensibility fan, and own both versions as well. The contrast between Elinor and Marianne never ceases to fascinate me. I know Elinor always comes off as being more mature and superior, in a sense, but I can’t help but feel JA held a strong partiality towards the vibrancy of Marianne’s character. I thought of S and S a lot when I saw Becoming Jane. Did you seet it? Elinor would have made the decision Jane Austen did about running off with her lover; Marianne would have gone with him and hang the consequences. I can imagine Jane would have had many regrets about that decision, even if she did feel she’d made the ‘right’ one.

I just recently saw Star Trek and to be honest, I was a little hesitant – after all, several movies have already been done and there has been more than one tv series. BUT, I have to admit, it was a good movie. It captured the earlier lives of our favorites – Kirk, Bones, and Spock and how they ended up in the academy together along with their first mission with the Enterprise. If you get time and want to see something that will take you away from earth for a couple of hours, I definitely recommend Star Trek.

I so love Kate and Leopold and I will do anything to win it ….. except go out on the Day after Thanksgiving sales *shudder* ….. I don’t get out to watch movies though but I did buy Hardball which features Kneau Reeves (I always have such a hard time pronouncing his first name.) Anyway onto my review …
Although this movie is filled with bad language by young children, (I am a mom, I notice these things) it is filled with heartfelt messages throughout the movie. It was an emotion evoking movie and I just love the storyline. Kneau’s character has a gambling problem and is sent to be the coach of a less than stellar baseball team in the inner city. He has to learn to grow up if he wants to be a role model to these kids. Along the way, he find heartbreak and love. I give this movie two thumbs up and just want you to know this is a movie not to be missed.

Just saw The Proposal and really liked it. Sandra and Ryan have great chemistry and Betty White was a hoot. It was a bit predictable, but the lead’s chemistry made the obviousness not so bad.

I gave it 4.5 out 5 stars. I loved the acting done by Denzel Washington, John Travolta, and James Gandolfini. The movie is fast paced and very suspenseful and greatly directed. I am looking forward to watching the original. π

Hmm… I can’t remember the last movie I saw in its entirety–probably Kung-fu Panda on DVD? And that was hilarious and very fun to watch, especially with the kids. So, five paws up!
My husband really enjoyed the new Star Trek, and I may have to go see it just because I watched so many original ST episodes as a kid!

Hi Beth!
Great Summer daily Contest! Thank You!
I recently watched Madea Goes to Jail, I give it a 3 1/2 out of 5.
The reason is it wasn’t as funny as I had expected but it did have it’s moments. It was a tear jerker in parts. The way I see it, 2 different stories mixed together that touch for a brief part at the end for the finish. It is a good chic flick but my hubby had no interest.
Happy Viewing!

We finally rented Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand and John Malkovich. Brad and John were just so weirdly funny. The whole situation was so strangely comedic and I would rate it 4/5.
But I would love a chance to own Kate and Leopold. Now that’s really up my alley.

Hi Beth! We saw Star Trek a couple weeks ago. Fantastic! I’m a huge trekkie (has to be ToS, though), and I thought they all did a great job – the writing, the acting – those guys all had their characters dead to rights – and just a great story and action.
It had everyone’s signature lines, too. Bones got to say “Dammit, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a …”. Spock said, “Fascinating.” Scotty said “I’m givin’ her all she’s got.” Lovloveloved it.
Plus, it was just a ton of fun. The way the ToS was. Made my little trekkie heart happy.

Woo Hoo Lori,
Scotty, for me, was the funnest hit of the movie. Man. He was good. Bones was the sexiest. And like I said…Spock and Uhura?
I knew he had hidden Vulcan depths.
