You run across a lot of nice, talented people in this business. Dakota Cassidy is all that, plus a true original. If you haven’t read her funny, spirited paranormals yet, you are in for a real treat. She’s here today to tell us about Kiss and Hell, her new book that comes out from Berkley in June. In the way of a true southern lady, Dakota said she wanted to give away a copy of one of my books for her contest! Isn’t she amazing? If you leave Dakota a comment or question, you will qualify to win a copy of one of my books (it has to be in print or pre-order availability.) Dakota says she will ship it from Amazon to anywhere.
Kiss and Hell
She’s never seen a sexier ghost.
Delaney Markham doesn’t just see dead people, she hears them too. And FYI-communicating with tortured souls all day can really wreak havoc on your love life. After all, no one wants to date the crazy chick that talks to herself. Sans boyfriend, Delaney makes the best of her gift by holding sΓ©ances and earns a pretty penny for them too, that is until one incredibly annoying ghost just won’t go away.
Now, if she could only get her hands on him.
When he materializes wearing nothing, Delaney knows something’s up. Besides being sinfully hot-in a college professor sort of way-all signs point to Clyde Atwell being much more than the ordinary spirit. In fact, he’s a newbie demon whose first assignment is to take Delaney back down to hell with him. Yeah, like that’s gonna happen on the first date. If Delaney’s old nemesis Lucifer thinks she’s going down without one hell of a fight, he’s got another thing coming…

Dakota’s Interview
BK: Welcome, Dakota. I’m so glad to have you here. What is sure to distract you from sitting down and working/writing?
DC: Rock Band and or Guitar Hero World Tour. There’s nothing like the Foo Fighters Everlong to keep me from getting things done.
BK: *grinning* I can just picture it. What are you working on presently?
DC: Presently I’m working on the sequel to Kiss and Hell, titled, My Way To Hell. Think demons that’re now ghosts and a hot male ghost whisperer who looks better in jeans than Melinda Gordon.
BK: Snort. OMG, sounds awesome. What about upcoming releases?
DC: My next is Kiss and Hell, and after that is Accidentally Demonic in Feb of 2010.
BK; What’s the best compliment you ever got on your writing or a book?
DC: Probably that I write exactly like I am in person. Well, maybe that’s not a compliment. LOLLOL
BK: You know, it’s true Dakota. That was what I meant above–you’re very real and original in a marvelous way. If you could time travel to any time or placeβthe past or futureβwhere and when would you go to, and why?
DC: I’d so go back to the 50’s. I’d have rocked the whole June Cleaver thing. I’m really good at running a householdβand I love to do the twist. LOLLOL
BK: You would be fabulous in the 50’s Dakota. I can just see you keeping house with your hair all coifed and nails perfect. Thanks so much for coming by today, Dakota. It was so unexpected and kind of you to offer to give away one of MY books. (What did I tell you guys, a real original in the best possible sense.)

I absolutely love the titles of these books! And I have to agree with you about going back to the 50s. That does seem like a sweeter time, more carefree.

I love Dakota’s rock band stories! And I finally get why she is sooo hooked! I wanna play drums! π

Hey, Cecile-it just sort of happened for me, doll. I’d written a contemp e-book and then I had one of my crazy “what if” moments about a narcoleptic vampire. I’d never written paranormal before–so I gave it a whirl. People seemed to like it, and here I am five years later.
It’s just nuts, I tell ya π LOL

It is so true. When I read a Dakota Cassidy book, I can hear you saying all the dialogue in my head. You do write just like you are…..LOL. And somehow, I don’t think the 50s were ready for you.

Thanks for making my days brighter by being able to read great books, they truly bring a smile to my face. Paige

I’m not so sure I could do the June Cleaver thing, but I can see you doing it as I’ve seen you do it in person! You’re a great hostess!
I also agree with the comments that your writing is just like your talking. I think that’s what makes the time spent reading your books so fun and more intimate!

Hey, Paige! Typically it starts with just a title or one of my “what if” deals where I wonder what would happen if you had the gift of sight, but your clothes weren’t nearly as cute as Melinda Gordon’s. LOL
Then with a pic in my head of what my character will look like, and after that, dialogue π

Guitar Hero and Rock band is a favorite of my three sons (even my four year old despite how lousy he is at it) and hubs. They are always trying to get me to sing (and I have an awful voice) though I don’t have any choice when it comes to Ozzy or Radiohead’s Creep because I know those lyrics by heart! It’s got my soon to be eleven year old wanting to learn guitar!

I love Dakota’s “Accidental” books, and now I’ll have to check this one out! I don’t know if I agree with Dakota about going back to the 50’s though, I wouldn’t be too keen on living in a time with no easy access to birth control pills, just saying, π
May 4th, 2009 at 11:24 am · Link
I was surprised that you would want to go back to the 50’s but they were great years for growing up in. When I think of going back in time I think of maybe Cleopatra days or Abe Lincoln days or Queen Victoria’s days…interesting. Your latest book sounds intersting.

π Great interview! can’t wait for kiss and hell to come out….
the only problem i have with dakota’s books is that they’re so addicting!
so, was kiss and hell an outlined book, or was it a more spur-of-the moment and fly by the seat of your pants type of a deal? i think i read somewhere that your first book, the accidental werewolf, was more spur of the moment, whereas the other two accidental books were more outlined.
anyways, now that i’ve written what has turned into a lengthy comment (i swear i didn’t mean to!), i’ll leave ya’ll to your reading. π happy readings!

As usual I learned about everything most important in the universe through Dakota’s yahoo group – which also means that Mark Henry will also tell me about it cause he also knows everything in the universe. BUT, did you both remember I’m 50 today? Hmmm. Yes, it’s all about me. Me. Me. Me…and a little bit of you cause I saw someone wearing yellow today and I had to slap them on your behalf. Okay – like a good little groupie I pre-ordered Kiss and Hell a month ago at Barnes…they better have it front and center on the display or I’ll have to do some rearranging again.
Beth, I look forward to reading your stories – I love reading new authors (and old ones like Dakota and Mark and Michelle and and…wait! Did I say that out loud? Oops, I did – they aren’t old – I’m old….so don’t you guys go getting your panties in a wad.)
Beth, honestly, if I knew how to start a blog thingy instead of just reading everyone else’s I might, okay, probably not – I’m lazy. Really, I’m very lazy – that’s why I read and and post occasionally….the posting is my nod to writing….One of you authors may use my nonsense in a book – just be sure to make me a sexy, black haired, blue eye, zit and hemmie free stacked ho – oh, and smart….okay, smart ass also works.
Loves you from Springfield, IL Gina G.
