WANTED FOR KIDNAPPING: A bubbly blonde with a penchant for trouble. May be armed (with good intentions) and dangerously seductive…
Kerry Sullivan is running out of time-and patience. With her brother wrongfully accused of embezzling millions, she can’t face one more humiliating hang-up from the man she’s begging for help. Rafael Dawson may be one of the top electronic security experts in the country — and the only man who can prove her brother’s innocence — but his phone manners are appalling. Damn Yankee. Too bad kidnapping the man isn’t an option. Or is it?
There’s nothing Kerry wouldn’t do for her brother. There are lots of things she longs to do to Rafe Dawson when he’s lying tied-up and naked in her secret hideaway. Rafe is certainly something to look at, but Kerry’s brother’s life is riding on her pulling off the impossible: getting this man who’s always in control to lose it. But when the tables get turned, Kerry finds herself at Rafe’s mercy. And the only way to get her way is to let him have his way — with her…

Shayla’s Interview
Thank you for joining us, Shayla!
BK: What is sure to distract you from sitting down and working/writing?
The sound of anyone in my house playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band 2, a really good book (of course), need for caffeine, the phone ringing (which I swear some days is constant), IMing with my friends.
BK: What are you working on presently? What about upcoming releases?
SB: I just finished edits yesterday for SEDUCE ME IN SHADOW and am now starting on those for POSSESS ME AT MIDNIGHT. Then I’ll begin work on the long-awaited book for Luc Traverson, DELICIOUS. My pub schedule for the next 12 months looks like this:
July 7: STRIP SEARCH ““ Berkley Heat
August: “Fated” ““ A free Doomsday Brethren novella, Simon & Schuster website
September 29 ““ SEDUCE ME IN SHADOW ““ Pocket Books
October 27 ““ POSSESS ME AT MIDNIGHT ““ Pocket Books
March 2, 2010 ““ DELICIOUS ““ Berkley Heat
BK: Wow. That’s quite a schedule, Shayla. Your fans will be ecstastic. 🙂
What’s the best compliment you ever got on your writing or a book?
SB: I’m always glad when readers and reviewers say they enjoy my book, but I love to hear that I made readers FEEL. To me, the trick of erotic romance isn’t just to arouse someone with your words, but to also arouse their feelings. When someone tells me I made them smile, laugh, cry and pant all in the same book, I’m happy.
BK: Since Daring Time is a time travel, I’m asking all the guest authors–if you could time travel to any time or place—the past or future—where and when would you go to, and why?
SB: I could never narrow it down. The intellectual curiosity in me makes me want to travel through history and see what it was really like in Regency London or to meet a real Viking, hang out in the Old West, etc. The other part of me is dying to know what will become of my friends and family in the years to come, whether there’s any truth at all to the whole 2012 thing, see what music is like. I’m horribly curious about everything, and visiting both the future and past holds great appeal.
BK: The voracious curiosity of a writer’s mind, I suspect. 🙂 Thank you so much for visiting today, Shayla, and taking the time to tempt us with your thoughts and writing.

🙂 I know it stinks for you, but it made me smile that you get distracted by IMing your friends like I do! Facebook is another time stealer. Ugh!
I’m also curious about vikings…and I’d love to meet Henry the eigth…pre-Ann Boleyn! 🙂

Thanks for the interview! Bound and Determined sounds like a really fun read. Of course, that set me off , looking at your other books. I know you’re getting set to write it but are you planning Delicious to be a stand alone or will Decadent need to be read first. Or are you a Panster and have no idea?

Hi Shayla!
Great interview with Beth. 😀 I’ve not read any of your contemporary work yet but on the strength of a couple of my online friend’s recommendations I would love to! I’ve heard wonderful things about “Decadent”.
Best Regards

I love Bound and Determined and I was wondering if you were going to continued with this series with the secondary characters. Sorry I read this book awhile back ago and I can’t remember their names.

Thank you Beth for having Shayla on your blog!! And thanks for the cool contest!
Beth, I am new to your books, thanks to blogger friends… who have introduced me to them. I love the covers, they are very “catchy.” I am waiting to get my hands on Sweet Restraints, Daring Time, and Wicked Burn. I wish you luck with the schedule you have!! Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your world!

Great interview. I like the idea that you want to make the readers feel your books. As a reader, this is what I look for in an author. Have a great day.

I didn’t realize I was up yesterday, y’all. Forgive me for being late in commenting!
Rachie, Yes, IM is a huge time stealer for me. And exactly why I’m not on Facebook or Twitter. I’d never get anything done…
Lynda, not a pantser AT ALL! You could read Delicious without reading Decadent, but it will be more meaningful, I suspect, if you have.
Blanche, Thanks so much! I’m really excited to write Luc’s story soon, and I’ve been to tickled by fans’ responses to the upcoming book. Did you see I have backcover copy on my website? http://www.shaylablack.com/bookshelf/erotic/delicious/
Blodeuedd and Becky, I hope you get a chance to grab a copy and enjoy. It really was one of the most fun books to write.
Carol, Thanks. I’m enjoying the Doomsday Brethren myself. Big challenge! Seduce Me In Shadow and Possess Me At Midnight are out back to back this fall with hot covers, so I’m completely excited! I should have excerpts on my site soon.
Ong and KH, I appreciate your comments!
Sue A., Definitely more coming!
Maija, I hope you give me a try. I don’t bite–much. LOL.
L, I really enjoy writing both paranormals and contemporaries. Some people say Decadent is their fave. I also have a lot of votes for Wicked Ties. They are part of the same series, but can stand alone. Though, I’m told, many who read one end up reading the other. Enjoy!
Sara, if we play Guitar Hero, I end up being the drummer. If it’s Rock Band 2, I sing. Honestly, no one in my family can sing a note, so I win–lose?–by default. *sigh* Still loads of fun!
Danielle, Bound and Determined is continued with Strip Search. After that…I’m not sure what I’ll do. Time permitting, I may continue and write about some of the other characters. My 2009 and 2010 are looking pretty full, so it would have to be after that.
Roberta, A romance, no matter the genre, should make you feel something. That’s my philosophy anyway…
Jody, thanks much!

That is an amazingly busy schedule – but I love that the books are coming soon!!!!

For myself, the Regency era, and possibly the 1850’s South, maybe New Orleans, would be my top choices for time travel. Fin de siecle Vienna, also.
Since I’ve already got Wicked Ties on my TBR (or at least, I think I do!), I would love to see either Decadent or Dangerous Boys and Their Toys appear in my mailbox! Actually, let’s forget that “or” that’s there – make it an “AND”!!
Good interview! I learned some more about a nice lady, who’s also plenty Wicked!
Later,
Lynn

Thanks, Karin. That’s the best compliment ever!
Booklover, I’m thrilled you enjoyed TEMPT ME WITH DARKNESS. If you haven’t seen the info on the next two, here it is: http://www.shelleybradley.com/blog/2009/03/24/doomsday-brethren-covers/.
Laurie, very soon! I’ll be writing 4 or 5 a year for a while. In 2010, I have 4 books out over 4 months!
Hi, Lynn. We’ll see if Beth draws your name. If so, we might be able to negotiate…

HI Shayla!! I wanted to give a shout out hello!!!! Did you make any changes or additions to the re-releases of BOUND AND DETERMINED and STRIP SEARCH? If you did, then I’d love to be in the contest for those to read! I’m glad that you got these out again and with much better covers that so fit the books! I love them! And so much to look forward to of yours! Thanks for all you do!

Caffey, just a few changes to make the pop culture references current. Other than that, it’s the same story of Rafe and Kerry. And yes, this cover is MUCH better. Thank goodness.
Thanks for having me, Beth. I enjoyed being here!
Awww, thanks Billi Jean. I appreciate the comment. Glad you enjoyed!
