BEING BULLET PROOF SUCKS—LITERALLY
Once, Maya Black was a kick-ass cop patrolling the streets of L.A. She still keeps the city safe, but nowadays her bad guys of choice include demons, werewolves, and assorted nocturnal scum. Something Maya knows a thing or two about. She’s a vampire—and not thrilled about it. Payback meet bitch.
Adam Brody hopes Maya is as dangerous as they say she is. He needs her to help rescue his niece Cammie from a ruthless band of vamps, and he’s willing to pay—in blood. Trusting her is another matter. Adam has never met a vampire who doesn’t lie. Then again, he’s never met anyone like Maya, who fills him with a desperate need that ignites into explosive, no-holds-barred encounters…

Cythia’s Interview
BK: Thanks for coming to visit, Cindy!
What is sure to distract you from sitting down and working/writing?
CE: My son! Jack is three and the boy’s mission is often to distract me. But, once I actually do get at the computer, I find myself distracted by my latest toy…Facebook.
BK: What are you working on presently? What about upcoming releases?
CE: I’m currently working on the second book in my romantic suspense series for Grand Central. My heroine is a firefighter and my hero is an FBI agent and I am having a great time with their story!
For my upcoming releases, I’ll have a new release available on June 30th—the third book in my Midnight trilogy, MIDNIGHT’S MASTER, will be available. This book is the story of my demon Niol and the woman who challenges him to find a bit of good lurking inside the monster.
BK: Both books sound fascinating and fun, Cynthia. What’s the best compliment you ever got on your writing or a book?
CE: The biggest compliment was when a reader told me that she didn’t want the story to end. Oh, that was the best! To know that a reader was so involved in the story—really great.
BK: If you could time travel to any time or place—the past or future—where and when would you go to, and why?
CE: I’d like to travel back to Ancient Egypt. Once upon a time, I was a history teacher and I’ve always loved Ancient Egypt—such a powerful and mysterious time. What can I say? I’m a sucker for mummies.
Thanks for interviewing me, Beth!
BK: Interesting that you were a history teacher, Cynthia. All those old lessons come in handy for the bank of knowledge a writer requires. 🙂
It was my pleasure to have you, Cindy! Good luck with your writing.
Make sure you leave Cynthia a comment to qualify to win your choice of one of her books! Also, if you haven’t yet, make sure you enter the Daring Time Contest for some major goodies! You don’t have to have a blog or facebook, just follow the instructions to enter.

I really liked the blurb for Immortal Danger. Two strong characters are sure to have a battle of wills. Thanks for the interesting interview too!

Hey Cynthia, and Hey Beth!
I’m on pins and needles waiting for Niol’s book, can’t wait to find out what you have in store for him. I didn’t realize that you used to teach history, Cynthia, how cool. My all-time favorite teacher in high school was Mr. MacDonald, my history teacher. He used to tell us all the juicy details about torture techniques, Roman orgies and incest among royals etc….not the boring stuff in our text book, LOL. *Sigh* his class was so darn interesting!

Hi Cynthia!
I’m so excited that you are here to help Beth celebrate the release of “Daring Time”!
“Immortal Danger”, sounds so awesome, I thought I’d try one more time to win it before placing my book order.
The sequel, “Midnight’s Master”, sounds equally as good. I also love romantic suspence and your firefighter / FBI story sounds wonderful!
All the best Cynthia!

Just wanted to come by and say hi to one of my favorite authors. Cynthia – how did I miss you were a history teacher. Gee – I need to polish up on my interview skills.
PS
I Want Niol’s story 🙂

Hi, Beth! Thanks for interviewing me! 🙂
LOL, Chris, I am happy to hear that!
Val, that was my favorite line, too. I was told that Kate Duffy came up with that line for back cover copy–and I so love it! And I’m glad you’re looking forward to the FBI series. I’m *this* close to sending off the second book to my editor.
Hi, Pam! Thank you! So glad you think IMMORTAL DANGER looks awesome! 🙂
Hi, Sheila! Thanks! They were fun characters to write.
Thank you, Mona!
Glad you liked the interview, Tracy! Oh, and I’m a sucker for a vamp, too. Spike made me that way.
Hello, Roberta! Thanks for checking out the interview–and thanks for the congrats!
Hey, Sue! Glad you enjoyed the blurb and the interview! (I think Beth has to get all the interview credit since she came up with the wonderful questions–thanks, Beth!)
Hi, Cheryl! Hmmm…sounds like your history teacher and my high school history teacher could have been good friends! The wild appeal of the “darker” history is what hooked me, too! And, hey, I’ll be doing another ARC giveaway for Niol’s book soon!
Lea, I am super excited to help Beth celebrate! LOL, you keep trying to win! This could be your lucky shot!
How are you, Greta? LOL, I think your interview skills are most excellent! I just have a few secrets lurking up my sleeve. Like the fact that when I was a history teacher, I taught at a very strict Catholic school. What? Didn’t see that coming? I was also a magician, once upon a time. Find me at a conference and I’ll make your salt shaker disappear.
Thanks for the comments!!

I didn’t realize the Grand Central books were romantic suspense without the paranormal. I’ll look forward to reading those, too. 😎

I am really looking forward to your upcoming releases, Cynthia.
Ancient Egypt is a great time and place to choose for time travel. It really is fascinating and I wouldn’t mind visiting there myself. 🙂

Hi Cynthia,
It would be awesome if we could travel back in time to Ancient Egypt. I love watching shows about Egypt on the Discovery and History channels.
April 14th, 2009 at 11:43 pm · Link
I am fascinated by Ancient Egypt, too. I don’t know if I’d want to travel there, though. With my luck I’d be stuck building a pyramid.
Immortal Danger looks really good. I love a kick-ass heroine.

Hi Cynthia 🙂
I have seen this one around and it’s looking so good. Congrats.
Egypt is sure a good choice, though might be for hot for me lol

I love Ancient Egypt also. I’m a theology student, but have been to numerous egyptology lessons. I have had a chance to go to Egypt once in my childhood. I want to go there again and now it would be even nicer because of the things I’ve learned at those lessons 🙂

This book is going on my TBR pile in the middle I think I have a couple of other stories I need to finish and then set aside an evening to enjoy some love and suspense. Enjoyed learning more about the book.

I keep seeing this book and it looks awesome!
Personally, when I’m reading a great book, I never want it to end; I’ll put it down with one chapter left just because I don’t want to let the characters go just yet!
I don’t know how you get any work done with at three year old and the lure of Facebook! I’m addicted to Flair, Lil Green Patch and Green Trading Cards and some more Flair!

all of your work looks soo good i cant wait to read your work it all seems soo awesome i do have a question
you said youd go back to egypt my question is if you could interview cloe andmarc anthonys story how would you portray them ?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:26 am · Link
Hi, Edie! Yep, those books were a change for me–but I’ve sure enjoyed writing them! (Well, the two I’ve done so far!)
Hey, Amy! I have. 🙂 Emily Drake, the monster doctor from Hotter After Midnight, was modeled a bit after one of my very good friends. Laura has her PhD in psychology and I stole her career (well, parts of her career) for my character. You know, minus the supernatural aspects.
Thank you, Connie! Glad you enjoyed the interview and I’m happy to hear you’re looking forward to Immortal Danger.
Hello, Ann Marie! You know, when I wrote this book, I didn’t expect folks to enjoy Lucas as much as they seem to have (most of the emails I’ve gotten have been asking me if he will receive a book of his own). So, for Lucas, well, that is looking like a real strong possibility now! If people want to learn more about Adam and Lucas, I’ll be happy to write more!
LOL, Lynda, I am glad you’ve found me! (Thanks, Beth!)
Thank you, Donna! It was such a fun book to write!

Hi, Caffey! Thank you very much!! 🙂
Thank you, Karin! Maybe we could visit together.
Oh, Jane, I love those shows, too! I missed seeing the King Tut exhibit when it was in the area a few years back, and I’ve regretted that!! I love that period.
LOL, Cynthya, with my luck, I probably just get trapped in a tomb somewhere. Sand victim!
Hi, blodeuedd! Thanks for the congrats! And you’re right, Egypt would be crazy hot. But, I live in Alabama, and we’re all about the heat. Um, and humidity.
Hi, Maija! You have just made me so jealous! I’d love to head to Egypt and see those pyramids!
April 15th, 2009 at 9:33 am · Link
Hi, Lindsey! Thanks for adding my story to your pile!
Thank you, Katy! Aw, getting work done can be tricky. But, hey, if you give up sleep, things get much easier. 🙂
Hello, Beverly! I’d love to interview those two! Talk about a strong love. Strong enough to defy an empire. I’d portray them as the very strong characters that they were, but vulnerable, too, because in the end, love caught them both. (I actually think Cleo was a brilliant woman who knew how to use her sexuality to get what she wanted. Smart, sexy, a queen.)
Thanks for all the comments! Hope everyone is having a great Tax Day. (Hmmm….is that possible?)

Hi Cynthia,
I just wanted to drop by and say that Immortal Danger was amazing! I received it yesterday and I devoured it =) What I especially love about your books is the strength and character of the heroine, and Maya was a great example of that.
I also wanted to add that if you’ve never been to Egypt, I highly recommend it. I visited for 2 weeks this past winter, and it’s one of those places where the people are beautiful and friendly, the food is delicious, and all the historical sites just leave you with wonder..
April 15th, 2009 at 2:21 pm · Link
Hi, Cynthia! I’ve never visited Egypt, but my parents did last year–they had a wonderful time seeing the sights but did admit that the dust and sand were a little wearying. As for kids, it seems their mission in life is to require attention at the least convenient times 😉 Good thing they’re so cute!

Hi, Eshani! Thank you so much for coming by–and I am very glad that you enjoyed Immortal Danger. Thank you!!
Oh, and now you’ve just made me want to visit Egypt even more! My husband is Greek (American born, but with family still there), and we talk about taking a trip over and visiting Egypt and Greece at the same time. That would be a dream trip for me.
LOL, Fedora, it sure is a good thing that kids are cute! Makes dealing with the stressful moments so much easier!
Hello, Bridget! Thank you!
Hi, Blanche! Glad you enjoyed the interview (full credit must totally go to Beth!). And I certainly hope you enjoy my stories! (And a big thank you to your friends!!)
