Back from RT, with an RT bag full of goodies giveaway!
Monday, April 16th, 2012

Hi all!

I’m back from the RT convention, which was tons of fun–until I came down with a killer flu bug and fever on Friday. 🙁 No fun being sick and fevered in a hotel room.

Luckily, I got to hang out with some wonderful writers, friends, bloggers and readers before the sickness descended–Tracy Wolff and her awesome friend, YA author Emily McKay, Fiona Jayde, Lacey Savage, Julie James, Louisa Edwards, Laurie London, Cynthia Eden, Lea and Mary from the Happily Ever After blog…the list goes on! So great catching up with everyone and meeting new friends. RT is always great for that.

So guess what I have to give away to one commenter–a fully loaded RT bag! It’s the bag all conference holders get, filled with fun author promo items and books! (I’ll also be including a few of my own books). Next best thing if you couldn’t make it to the conference.

So just answer this question and qualify to win the RT bag of goodies!

If you went to a romance conference, who would you want to meet?

Shouldn’t everyone say they want to meet you!?! LOL – seriously though I would love to meet you and hear all about writing for Harlequin Special Edition.

There are too many other authors I love to narrow it to just 1, but an author I just discovered and love her books is Victoria Alexander. Thank goodness she has a long backlist! 🙂

      Hi Sabrina!

Oh, Lord, no…you don’t have to say you’d want to meet me. I’d want to meet someone like Anne Rice, who was at RT, and who I desperately wanted to have sign my Mayfair Witches books, but didn’t have a chance in hell of it happening. lol. I’m an easy catch at a conference compared to many. 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by, Sabrina!

Oh the Mayfair Witches series was so much more interesting to me than the Vampire books. The Witching Hour was one of her best!

I so agree! I was a bit obsessed with the witches, but could take or leave the vampires. The Witching Hour had sort of a weird hypnotic quality. Totally drew me in. 🙂

I have to agree with you both about the witches!

I had the pleasure of having dinner with some awesome authors and Victoria was included. She is a classy lady with a wonderful sense of humor & soooo nice. Don’t you love when someone you admire is great in real life?

I would want to meet you of course and Laurann Dohner, Lora Leigh, Jaci Burton, Heather Graham, Marisa Chenery, Cathryn Fox, Sasha White, and lots more. I have never been to one of the conferences and probably won’t be able to go to one in the future. I would love to go though. 🙂 Hope you are feeling better.

      Hi Amy!

Fortunately, a lot of those ladies go to conferences, so you would be in luck. 🙂

Oh man, so many people, but I think most of all some of the peeps I talk to on twitter. Some famous like Cara McKenna, others not – yet!

Very cool, Amber. There’s always someone you want to meet in person vs. the internet world. That’s one of the funnest things about a conference, I think.

I would love to meet Shelly Laurenston. She writes with such a distinct style. I would love to see if her writing style is reflected in her personality.

I got to meet JR Ward several times before she had to hire bodyguards. It was possible to actually have a conversation with her.

A very tough question! I’ve been to a big author event before when RWA was in Dallas, and, honestly, it was almost more fun to meet new-to-me authors than the BIG named writers who I’d read forever. None of the nerves plus if they were awesome, they got a reader for life! 🙂

Right, that’s a lot of the fun, meeting a face before you read the book because you come to like the person so well. Truly does make you a reader for life.

It’s a given that I’d love to meet you but I’d also love to see Lauren Dane, Megan Hart, Julia Quinn, Lara Adrian, JR Ward, Jennifer Weiner, and goodness I could go on. I’ve been lucky with some authors I’ve been able to meet previously (Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich, Meg Cabot) but there are still so many out there and with all the new authors/books I’m falling in love with there’s always someone new I’d love to meet.

My idol has always been Nora Roberts, and she’s been so accessible I’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting her on more than one occasion. I have a really hard time narrowing down my favorite authors, but I guess maybe Susan Elizabeth Philips or Wendy Corsi Staub.

    And you of course!

Oh I would soooo love to go to a conference, first of all to meet my fellow bloggers 😀 and then all the authors I love. But who would I most like to meet? A tough one. Maybe Nalini Singh

There are so many authors I’d love to meet! Of course, I’d clam up and end up just staring O.O because I’d be so nervous…

I’d love to meet you (of course!), Lauren Dane, Molly Harper, Megan Hart, JR Ward, Ilona Andrews, Louisa Edwards, oh, this list could get long, lol.

I’m going to be weird and say I am not sure I want to meet my author idols. I guess as a glass 1/2 empty person I worry that meeting them in person might lessen my enjoyment of their books. I really love Shelley Laurenston, Angela Knight and many more but what if it doesn’t go like I hoped and I just leave feeling disillusioned about the whole thing?

    • Beth Kery
        · April 17th, 2012 at 8:50 am · Link

Very understandable, Marc, I don’t think that’s odd at all. If the wellspring of creativity doesn’t match up in your mind, it sort of taints the water in general. 🙂

LOL, I so wanted to go! But sorry to hear that you got sick 🙁

Hmmm, who would I want to meet? Well, you of course, then Lorelei James, Elizabeth Hoyt, Marie Force, Jaci Burton, Pamela Clare, Mia Marlowe, Vivian Arend, …oh and Jill Shalvis because she seems like she would be a hoot. And, Maggie Robinson, and Julie Anne Long, and Tessa Dare, and Maya Banks…LOL. Yeah, there would be a lot of authors that I would love to meet which is why I was so sad that I couldn’t go this year especially since it was in Chicago, which is about as close as it’s gonna get to where I live in the Midwest.

I hope to one day attend a conference where I can meet all my favorite (and discover new) authors all in one place. That would be a book lover’s paradise! It sounds like you had a great time! I’d want to meet Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Lisa Kleypas, Susan Wiggs, YOU and many many more.

There are so many I would love to meet. Authors of PNR series like Larissa Ione, Lara Adrian, Kerrelyn Sparks, Lynsay Sands, etc.,
Historical authors like Sabrina Jeffries, Karen Hawkins, Alexandra Hawkins, etc.
and of course authors of hotter books likes Cherise Sinclair, Kallypso Masters, the Smutkeeters, etc

There are so many I would love to read, but I would probably just be able to stand there repeating Hi or squeeling. LOL

I’d love to hang out with Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I met her once at an RWA conference, and she signed my favorite book by her (This Heart of Mine), but I’d love to sit down and chat and shoot the breeze with her.

I would love to meet Terry Pratchett!! Anyway from the list at this year’s RT which I hope will attend again next year when I am actually going – Vivian Arend, JR Ward, Anne Rice, Laurie London… Oh heck I want to meet them all.. LOL

Viv and Laurie are both very, very nice ladies. I understand that Anne only signed 200 books at the signing–that was all the wristbands they gave. Hmmm, we must plot how to get an autograph. 🙂

      Love Terry P. BTW.
