The Hometown Hero Returns Contest, A Free eReader
Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

The Home to Harbor Town series debuts on March 22, so we’re going to celebrate! I was excited to see that The Hometown Hero Returns will be selling for 3.99 in ebook (4.99 for print). On March 29, I’ll be giving away an eReader to one person who throws their hat or wig into the ring. Here’s the fun thing: you get to make the choice of eReader, as long as it retails for 150 dollars or less!

Here’s how you enter. Since The Hometown Hero Returns takes place in a quaint, lakeside vacation community, leave a comment here and tell me about your favorite vacation memory or a family vacation hotspot.

IN ADDITION, to enter you must do one of the following:

1. Sign up for my newsletter on the homepage of my website

2. Follow me on twitter

3. Follow me on Facebook

4. Join the Total Exposure yahoo chat group

***If you have difficulty with any of the links, the information is also all on the CONTACT page of this website

*** If you already participate in one of the above, just let me know in your comment, and you will be entered.
So a valid entry might be: My favorite family vacation hotspot is Lake of the Ozarks. I already belong to your total exposure chat group OR I just followed you on twitter, etc. Once I draw a winner on March 29, I will check and see that the requirement is fulfilled. If it isn’t, I will choose another winner until a valid one is found.

I will contact the randomly chosen, valid commenter and announce the winner here on March 29.

That’s it. Now, a bit about the reason for the celebration, The Hometown Hero Returns.

The Hometown Hero Returns

At eighteen, Marianna Itani thought she’d found the man of her dreams in Marc Kavanaugh, the quintessential boy-next-door. That perfect romance flew to pieces when an unspeakable tragedy tore them apart. Yet when Marc appeared in her life fifteen years later, the sparks that flew were as explosive as the day they first met.

Now their reignited passion was changing their lives in more ways than one: Mari was pregnant! She was set on putting the pain of the past behind her—not reopening scars that had never truly healed. And their baby might bring these star-crossed lovers back together—forever!

I have to say my very most favorite vacation was the one where my folks loaded up all their kids in the family uhaul (i.e. stationwagon) and trekked us from Illinois to Colorado… we were going to sleep under the stars, swimming in the lakes… only when we got there, no sun only rain, beaches…closed. Mom and Dad wasted all of their hotel money on shining new camping equipment… that we didn’t get to use. And, had to cram all of us into a single motel room… with one bed. Years later I discovered all the camping equipment stored safely away in their basement, still unused. I love my mom and dad!

When I was a kid, we always used to go camping at the Okeefenokee (sp?) Swamp in New Jersey. Food never tastes as good as when you’re camping. My dad also had a special way to tuck us in our sleeping bags and cots at night. I’m a newsletter subscriber.

My favorite summer vacation spot was a local park not too far from our home. We got to cookout, play on the beach and able to sleep in our beds when it was all over.

When I was in high school the folks loaded all three of us kids into the car and we headed to Washington DC and Pennsylvania. Was really cool to see all the places we’d only read about in history books.

And I’m already a member of TotalExposure chat group.

One of my favorite vacation memories was when I was a kid. My aunt had a cottage and always let us go up there. There were quite of few funny memories I have from back then.Once my parents and Aunt and uncle went out to dinner and left us all alone. Well in the bathroom a huge bee (and I’m not kidding it was the biggest bee I have ever seen to this day) was trapped inside. So while all us girls screamed and ran outside. My brother and cousin got all dressed up in gear from head to foot covered and tennis rackets in hand, decided to take said bee out. After a few attempts (the bee was smart) they still didn’t get it and a few of us had to go to the bathroom. We went down to the closest neighbors to get bee spray (they laughed at us) so we headed back. So they guys headed in again (none of us thought to use the neighbors bathroom) about an hour later and broken things inside and 4 girls jumping and squirming outside the bee met his demise.about 10 minutes later our parents came home and thought we were all crazy.we had so many good times there I was sad when my aunt sold it.

My favorite vacation was our road trip from Bryant, Al. to the Grand Canyon/Las vegas and back. 5100 miles in one van with me, hubby, my 6 yr old son, my 13 yr old son and my sixty something aunt. We had a blast. Matter of fact we love to do the northern states soon. Hopefully we’ll fly out to SD and drive from there and then fly back. Your new book sounds great. Looking forward to reading it.

One of my favorite vacation spots was from back in grade school, when we would stay in a cabin-type hotel on the beach in Chicoteague (sp?) Island on the Virginia side of the island for spring break or to see the running of the horses.

One of my fav family vacation memories is from this last December when my family including cousins, aunts and uncles all went to Disney with kids.

It was a family reunion of sorts and had an early Christmas. We hardly ever are able to get together, usually for weddings, but we planned in two years ago so almost everyone was able to make it. It was also my niece’s first trip to Disney (she’s four) and it made it so much fun! I totally enjoyed the park more because of her excitement.

One of my fondest family vacation spot is our lakeshore country house. It is very close to the water (2nd house from the shore), spent the summer months there with my family when I was in high school then spent some weeks and weekends there with friends once I was in university. We have so many great memories and fun we had there 🙄 😛

My favorite family vacation was when we all went to Ireland. I was studying in england and my family came over to see me for a week and we went to Dublin and hit much of the coast. It was so much fun, and I got to see tons of great history. I love Ireland. I’d go back any day.

I love vacationing with out kids, but I have to say my favorite vacation was a few years ago when my husband took me to Mackinac Island in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We live in the lower western part of the state, and I had never been to the island. We had the BEST time, and it was really romantic and KID FREE…we have three kids, so that was such a huge deal, and so much fun 😎 We’d been married almost 20 years!

Funny I can think a ten places that are great vacation places with memories and the times spent with family at them, but the best are spent right here at home in the backyard.Picnics on the patio and lazy days with a glass of ice tea and a great book.
Sure it is great to spend a few days in New Orleans with drives on the coast and walks in the French Quater.Getting a Fiesta Pizza at 3:am and walking the boardwalk.Or Yellowstone. The fresh air and ice cold streams.Mountains and wild animals.Even a buffalo that thinks your motel doorway as his napping place.Snow fight in July on a moutain top.
Life is what we make it.Vacations are detours.Little escapes.Sometimes they are close as our backdoor or 1000s of miles away.Enjoys them all.
I follow on facebook and newsletter and I am heading to twitter.
    Thanks for the great books!!!

I already follow you on Facebook and Twitter but I also added my name to your newsletter just because. I can’t help it, it’s what I do. But I’d love to win and e-reader. I was supposed to get a Kindle for Christmas last year but I couldn’t because money had to go to repairs on the house instead. So if I could win a Kindle, that would be amazing! But I just like entering into contests like this because there’s always a chance. Can’t wait to read Velvet Cataclysm. 🙂

Hi Beth, love your books. Every year when the weather gets warm, we go to the Isle Of Palms (near Charleston SC) for couple of weeks. It’s only a couple of hours drive from us so it’s wonderful not having to travel long distances with our 3 rowdy children. Facebook friend here.

When I was young, Labor Day weekend meant a trip to the beach for a picnic. My parents would rent a little boat with an outboard motor and we would putter around, looking for a nice spot for lunch. My mother would grill chicken, hotdogs, and whatever fish my father and my siblings managed to catch (I wasn’t into fishing). Then we’d play in the water until the food ran out and go home. I still try to have a picnic during Labor Day weekend and at the beach but no boats or fishing.

I’m one of your Facebook friends.

One of my fav. vacation spots growing up was anytime we went to Seattle, which was a lot. After my mom divorced my dad we moved to Eastern WA and were about four hours away, yet my mom was really close with her parents so we would go visit my grandparents just about every weekend. We were living in a small town so our trips to Seattle were magical and my sister and I would get giddy every time we would drive across the floating bridge and see all the big buildings. My mom would do so much with us and we would take advantage of everything Seattle had to offer, fairy rides, baseball and football games, a million of choices of malls and outlet malls, the space needle, the waterfront, the zoo, Pikes Place, Freemont, the big giant Toe truck, the troll under the bridge, I could go on. We would take bus rides into ballard with my grandma and go garage selling with her and we had so much fun. I didn’t mind the rain or clouds and I loved all the green and trees. To this day Seattle holds a special place in my heart and I love seeing my kids eyes light up when we cross that floating bridge to go visit and I relive my youth through them, though we live in California now and our visits aren’t as frequent as they use to be, I still try do everything with them that my mom did

For the last dozen years or so, my favorite vacation spot has been Avalon, on Catalina Island. Whether a long weekend or just 1 day, I love to go there. It’s calm and quiet and beautiful – and close enough for that day trip, if that’s what I need. I have other vacation spots that I love also, but they take more planning & money, and I don’t get to do them as often. And I have dream vacations that I’m sure I’ll get to — one day! But Catalina is close enough *and* far enough to make a perfect vacation for me. 🙂

I follow on twitter (and maybe facebook, I can’t recall. Gonna have to go check & rectify it, if I don’t!)
