My Favorite Time of Year
Thursday, August 19th, 2010

I can feel it in the air…fall is coming. I don’t know what it is, because it can still be hot and muggy, but it seems as if I feel that subtle change. My favorite time of year–apples, pumpkins, fireplaces, brilliant cool days and candles is on the horizon. Yay!

It’s been a whirlwind, but productive summer. “Conference season” kept me busy, starting with RT, then Lori Foster’s event, then RWA. I had six writing deadlines from spring to fall, and I’ve hit five of them, so I’m feeling pretty good about that.

The news on the emarket front and an increase in my ebook sales has really got me happy. How many of you got ereaders this summer? I saw this interesting article in USA Today yesterday, where Jeff Bezos says sales of Kindle books at Amazon will outsell paperbacks in a predicted 9-12 months. (Kindle sales already has outstripped hard back books). If you’d like to see the Bezos interview, it’s here.

I’m starting to get excited about promotion for EXPLOSIVE, my new release from Berkley Heat out December 7. I’m trying to come up with some fun promo stuff for readers. Do you follow me on Twitter or belong to my yahoo chat group, Total Exposure? If not, find the links below under Beth’s Stuff to join. I’m thinking of doing some fun contests, etc. through those channels starting this fall.

I did have one guilty read that I just loved recently: the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I’m a real sucker for YA, and this one was just so, so much fun. Rick Riordan is a high school English teacher, I believe, and he made the ancient Greek world come to life in the modern day for his books. He really gets teenagers. Very funny and very fun.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend, and happy reading!

I’ve read two of the Percy Jackson series and love them. Gotta get the other three done.

Fall is also my fav time of year. Just yesterday I was in the car and noticed a few trees and bushes with a hint of red….could it be that they are starting to turn already?

    Looking forward to Explosive!

Fall is my favorite time of year too Beth.. I love, love fall. I’m delighted to hear your book sales are increasing, that is AWESOME.. Well deserved.

It seems authors have so many deadlines this time of year and around Christmas, must be brutal..

    You enjoy your weekend too..

    Hi Beth
Congrats on the book sales. Good news!
Fall is not my fave. Fall means winter is coming. It means boots, scarves & mitts and playing tennis indoors. Spring is my fave. Spring is like the promise of sunshine & flowers. I’m ignoring the subject of heat & unbearable humidity. I guess I can have selective memory too LOL.

Saw a bit of the Percy movie. Looked amazing but I haven’t read the books.

I’m with Mary. Give me spring! Though we’ve been having gorgeous weather lately. Today was just perfect.

I haven’t read the Percy Jackson stuff, but I’m getting more into YA. Jennifer Echols and our very own Chicago girl Simone Elkeles are my current favorites. And now I think I need to check out Suzanne Collins as well.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week 🙂
