Paradise Rules Contest
Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Hello! Happy Saturday.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that my Paradise Rules contest starts next Wednesday, 9/16. I have a great line up of authors who will be here daily giving away books, and I myself have some fun, Hawaiian themed gifts I’m giving in addition to these fantastic books. I’ll make a list of daily authors when I post the contest rules–but just to entice with a few…Opal Carew, Lucy Monroe, Fiona Jayde and Julie James. :)

I posted the lovely widgit that Frauke made me, by the way, to the right of my blog. I know it’s tiny, but I’ll put it up BIG next week. I couldn’t resist showing it off, just a leeetle bit, in the meantime, though.

So be sure to stop by starting 9/16 to 10/5 Monday through Saturday, leave a comment with new and favorite authors…and maybe win! The one hundred dollar Amazon gift certificate will be given away 10/5!

Thanks for helping celebrate the release my very steamy, romantic contemporary PARADISE RULES on October 6!

The Last Day of Summer
Monday, September 7th, 2009

Hi all! Happy Labor Day! Hope you guys are relaxing with friends and family. I just came back from a nice walk around the city. I played tourist and took photos. When I was little and came to Chicago for a school function or something, my father would tell me…’Don’t gawk up at the skyscrapers. You’ll look like you’re from corn country.’

Nineteen years of city living, and I still haven’t learned that lesson.

So here’s a little slice of my Labor Day weekend in the city. How was your holiday?

All Tied Up

I’m a huge fan of Beth’s books, so it’s really exciting for me to be blogging here today. Thanks, Beth, for having me.

So, I hope you don’t mind, but I figured I’d take this opportunity to confess a deep dark secret of mine. A secret so dark that I’ve gone through a lot of trouble to hide it through the years, but one that my brand new book, Tie Me Down, kind of brought out into the open.

I’m a control freak. Like a serious, have to be in charge, won’t let anybody else do it, get out of the way and let me fix it before you completely mess it up, control freak. I mean, on the surface, I understand the concept of delegating as well as the next person, but when it comes down to it, I’d just rather do it myself.

It drives my kids nuts because even if I ask them to do something, I’m always leaning over their shoulders watching while they do it. And usually suggesting ways that they can do it better. I know, I know. I know. But I just can’t help myself.

This, of course, means writing novels is not the optimum career for me—by the time my editor and the copy editor get through with the book, there are always deviations to my vision. But usually, those deviations are right on the money, so I’ve learned to embrace them.

Which is why, when I sat down to write my brand spanking new book, Tie Me Down, I thought wouldn’t it be interesting if I wrote about a woman who likes control as much as I do? And wouldn’t it be even more interesting if I pitted her against the one man who won’t let her have her way? Enter Genevieve and Cole, a tough-as-nails homicide cop and the guy who loves, umm wants, umm has to possess her.

I got my come-uppance when I met my alpha-male husband thirteen years ago—he knows I’m a control freak, but only sometimes lets me get away with it– and it was really interesting to watch as Genevieve got hers as well. This is a story about control—having it, losing it and willingly giving it up to someone you care for deeply. Add in some light bondage, a serial killer with an affection for mind games and a very sexy hero, and you’ve got Tie Me Down.

And for those of you who want to read a little more, here’s a

Quick Excerpt:

“So, can I buy you a drink?” Her question came out of nowhere, in a no-nonsense tone and a voice that was pure, sugary Georgia peach. Smooth and silky and sweetly delicious, despite the hint of hard-ass he heard just below the surface.
Surprise swept through him, and he wondered if she would taste as good as she sounded. The contrast between her voice and her tone intrigued him, one more example of the numerous contradictions that seemed to make her up.
The lush body covered by that ridiculous suit.
The indolent pose belied by the watchful eyes.
The gorgeous voice with the don’t-fuck-with-me tone.
It made him wonder who the real Genevieve Delacroix was. Made him want to fuck with her—to fuck her—and to hell with the consequences.
As he struggled to regain control—to keep his eye on the prize—the wicked curve of her lips kept interfering with his concentration.
“What are you offering?” He kept his voice low as he angled his body toward hers, savoring the rush of arousal pouring through him. Inconvenient or not, it had been far too long since he’d felt this instantaneous reaction to a woman.
Her barely there smiled turned into a smirk. “That depends what you ask for.”
He nodded to the bartender who had sidled up to the other side of the bar. “A shot of Patrón Silver.”
“Interesting choice.” Genevieve quirked a brow before turning to the bartender. “I’ll take an Absolut and cranberry.”
After the bartender moved away, she leveled a pair of deep blue eyes at him and Cole fought the urge to squirm. Genevieve had cop eyes—world-weary, cynical and more than willing to believe the worst.
For a split second, it was like looking in a mirror, his own tormented emotions of the past few years staring back at him. But then a shutter came down, blocking him from seeing anything but a sardonic amusement that sent shivers up his spine.

So, tell me, do you have any deep dark secrets? Any personality quirks that drive your loved ones crazy? Leave a comment for a chance to win my first erotic suspense, Full Exposure. And don’t forget to stop by my blog and read all about my Tie Me Down contest. It starts Thursday and the grand prize is a $100 gift card to Borders, Barnes and Noble or Amazon.
